Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde (KKTC) eğitim faaliyetini sürdüren Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi’nde 108 ülkeden 18 bin 600 öğrenci öğrenim görüyor. Bu öğrencilerin yüzde 43.8’i Türkiye’den, yüzde 41.2’si farklı ülkelerden, yüzde 16’sı da KKTC’den geldi.
KKTC’deki Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi, uluslararası yükseköğretim derecelendirme kuruluşu Times Higher Education (THE) tarafından yapılan Üniversite Etki Sıralaması’nda, 101-200 bandında yer aldı. Liste; barış, adalet gibi kriterlerle, üniversitelerin hukuk ve uluslararası ilişkiler konusundaki araştırmaları ve akademik özgürlük politikaları ölçülerek belirleniyor.

TAYVAN İLK SIRADA YER ALIYOR
66 ülkeden yaklaşık 270 üniversitenin bulunduğu listenin ilk sırasında Tayvan’dan Ulusal Tayvan Üniversitesi, ikinci sırada Rusya’dan Rostov Ekonomi Devlet Üniversitesi, üçüncü sırada da İngiltere’den Soas Londra Üniversitesi yer alıyor.
Üniversitenin sıralamadaki yerini değerlendiren rektör Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, KKTC’nin dünyada tanınmadığına dikkat çekerek şöyle devam etti:

Son 3 yıldır üniversite bu tolerans kültürünü özümsemiştir. Üniversitemiz, akademik özgürlük, düşünce özgürlüğü ve barış bağlamında yol almaya devam edecektir” diye konuştu.
